Hollingworth Lake

There's lots to do for you and the family throughout the year, including a regular programme of guided walks, special events, crafts and outdoor activities. Contact the visitor centre for further details. All events meet at Hollingworth Lake visitor centre unless stated otherwise.

The visitor centre is just off Rakewood Road, and has a permanent exhibition of local wildlife and heritage, a gallery of artists work, information desk, small shop, cafe, toilets, and free-to-use mobility scooter hire (booking required).

You can see a variety of water fowl on the lake. A small hide at the south west corner overlooks a natural area where boats and watersports are excluded. The lake is stocked with coarse fish, including bream, carp, tench, roach and perch. There's no close season but there are restrictions on where you can fish. Fishing permits are available from the visitor centre.

Visitor centre opening hours

The visitor centre is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday including bank holidays.

  • Cafe and toilets: 9.30am - 5pm.
  • Visitor centre: 10am - 3.30pm.
