Council Tax, benefits and money

Coronavirus (COVID-19). During the current situation, you might be worried about how you'll pay your Council Tax.

Apply for benefits: we advise you to apply for existing benefits or schemes you may be entitled to:

£150 Council Tax reduction for residents who receive Council Tax support: if you already receive Council Tax support and are of working age, you'll automatically qualify for a discount of up to £150 off your 2020/21 bill. This will be made available from the government’s hardship fund in light of the coronavirus situation. We'll send out updated bills in the post to show your discount and how much you need to pay. If you currently pay £150 or less per year, you won't need to pay anything and your new bill will show this.

If you're struggling to pay your Council Tax bill, please get in touch with us as soon as possible. By speaking to us, you may be able to create a payment plan or possibly agree to pause your payments until a later date.

You can get in touch with us by emailing or ringing 0300 303 8870.
