UK bank holidays
If the bank holiday is on a weekend, a ‘substitute’ weekday becomes a bank holiday, which is normally the following Monday.
Council offices are closed on bank holidays.
- If you have an emergency, please use the out-of-hours emergency contact numbers.
- You can apply, report or pay for services online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
There are no planned changes to bin collections over the bank holiday period.

Libraries and customer services will be closed on bank holidays.

Housing benefit payments
BACS payments and cheques due to be paid on bank holidays will be paid the day before the bank holiday.
There are no other changes to Housing Benefit payments.
