Elections

​​​​​​​​​Local election timetable - people who run your council are called councillors. They make important decisions which can affect people's lives. Councillors are elected for a 4-year term by thirds. This means at each election a third of the council is elected. The elections are run on a 4-year cycle with elections taking place in the first 3 years of the cycle. In the 4th year there are no local elections. The election years are 2020, 2022, 2023 and so on.
