Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA)

The role of the Mayor of Greater Manchester in GMCA

The Mayor of Greater Manchester steers the work of Greater Manchester’s Combined Authority. The Mayor is elected and is accountable to the people of all 10 boroughs in Greater Manchester.

The Mayor is able to make some decisions independently, but most decisions involve consultation and approval from all members of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority. Some decisions need unanimous support, others need a majority.
