Syllabus for the Festival of Performing Arts

This information is aimed at those performing in the festival. If you want to attend the festival as a spectator, view the festival visitor details instead.

What you need to know about the syllabus

  • The syllabus lists all the different classes you can enter to perform in at the Rochdale Music Service Festival of Performing Arts.
  • Each class is separated by category and school year.
  • You'll need to know the class number of the class you'd like to enter to write it on your entry form. All the class numbers are listed in the drop down sections below.
  • All the classes will be judged, except Talented Tinies and Whole Class Performance. This means you'll compete against the other performers in the same class as you. View judging criteria and awards.
  • You can request to enter a class non-competitively. Please write NC next to your class number on your entry form if you'd like to do this.
  • If you're an adult, please write A next to the class number on your entry form. For example, an adult entering for a brass solo would write class 4A on their form.
  • If none of the classes seem to fit your instrument or performance style, please do get in touch with us using the details on this page. We'll happily add a new class to the syllabus if needed.
