Apply to vote by post

Anyone who is registered to vote can apply to vote by post. If you're not registered to vote you can register to vote online.

You've got the option to vote by post, rather than visiting a polling station.

If you vote by post you must re-apply every 3 years.

If you chose to vote by post before October 2023 and want to continue to vote by post you need to re-apply.

To re-apply you will need:

  • Your national insurance number.
  • A photo of your handwritten signature in black ink on plain white paper. This will need to be uploaded as part of your application.

Don’t want to vote by post anymore?

If you no longer want a postal vote you can request to cancel it.

Your request should include:

  • Your full name.
  • Home address.
  • Your hand written signature. Typewritten or electronic signatures will not be accepted.

You can send your request to us:

  • In writing to Electoral Services, Number One Riverside, Smith Street, Rochdale OL16 1AZ
  • By emailing a photograph of your written request to elections@rochdale.gov.uk
