The quality and level of advice we can give depends on how clear and complete your submission is.

Please make sure you provide all the relevant information when you apply for pre-application advice. We won't ask for additional information later, or review multiple versions of the same proposal.

If you want advice on a specific part of your proposal, clearly explain this in your submission.

What you can expect from us

All requests for pre-application advice will be handled by your allocated case officer, and we’ll guide you through the process using the timeline below:

  1. Within 1 week of receiving your request and the correct fee, we’ll aim to register it and assign a case officer to support you.
  2. Your case officer will then aim to get in touch within 4 weeks to arrange a meeting, if one is required.
  3. We'll aim to send you a written response within 6 weeks of your initial request.
  4. If you need further advice after receiving our response, we can arrange follow‑up meetings as a separate request.

For larger or more complex proposals, we may need a little extra time, but we’ll discuss this with you early on, so you always know what to expect.
