Apply for a bulky waste collection

To book your bulky waste collection:

  1. We release new slots on your bin collection day every week for the following 3 weeks. You can book a collection for up to 3 weeks in advance. Available slots are limited and these slots get booked quickly so you may have to keep trying.
  2. Collections will only take place on your usual bin collection day
  3. Items must be left outside by 7am on your collection day, as we're unable to pick them up from inside your house or garage. Collections can take place up to 5pm on your confirmed collection day.
  4. Items should not be left out any earlier than the day before your confirmed collection day as they could be recorded as fly-tipping. Items not booked or accepted are not permitted and will not be collected.
  5. Please keep items dry as we want to be able to recycle and reuse as many items as possible.

How much a bulky waste collection costs

You can take advantage of 2 free collections of 3 items for each property, each year. The first 3 items will be free of charge, and any additional items will be charged at £8 each.

If you've already used your free collections for the year, we charge £12 for each further collection of up to 3 items, and any additional items will be charged at £8 each.

You can request up to 6 items on each booking.

Cancellations and amendments to your order

Once your collection is booked, if you wish to amend the date or make any changes to your collection you need to be aware of the following:

  1. Once you've booked your collection we're unable to accept changes and you'll need to cancel and rebook. You can do this up to 10am on the day before your collection by emailing environmental.management@rochdale.gov.uk with full details of your booking. You can find these details on the confirmation email you received at the time of your booking.
  2. If you cancel your booking within the correct cancellation notice period, we will not count this as one of your free annual collections.

Refunds

  1. If your collection is chargeable, we'll refund you as long as you cancel your booking by 10am the day before your collection.
  2. If you give us the correct cancellation notice period we'll refund you if you've been charged.
  3. If the items are presented in such a way that we cannot safely collect them or if we can't gain access we won't refund you and it will count as one of your free collections.
