About this event

Friday, 17 July 2026. Join us at Langley library for a fun and creative Read to the Beat Summer Reading Challenge activity.

This event invites children to get imaginative by decorating their own cardboard cut-out of a guitar or microphone, inspired by the theme of music and reading.

During the session, children will:

  • Choose a guitar or microphone cut-out to decorate
  • Use a variety of craft materials to design their creation
  • Express their creativity while celebrating books and music
  • Take their finished artwork home

Why attend?

This is a great opportunity for children to get involved in the Summer Reading Challenge in a hands-on and enjoyable way. The activity encourages creativity, supports engagement with reading, and provides a relaxed space to have fun and meet other young participants.

What to bring:

  • No materials are required — all craft supplies will be provided
  • Children should wear suitable clothing for crafts (items may get messy)

This session is designed to be simple and enjoyable, so families can drop in, take part, and make the most of what’s on offer without needing additional support or follow-up.

We look forward to seeing you and celebrating reading with a creative, musical twist.
