Support and safe accommodation for victims and survivors of domestic abuse

You can find emergency help, safe accommodation, self-help tools, helplines, and advice on how to leave relationships from local and national charities and organisations.

Do you need immediate help?

  • Call 999 in an emergency - if you can't talk on the call, try coughing or tapping the phone. If the operator asks you if you're in danger, press 55.
  • If it's not an emergency, call Greater Manchester Police on 101 - the switchboard is open 24 hours a day.
  • Rochdale Early Help and Safeguarding Hub (EHASH) - Contact EHASH for information and advice on support available for the safeguarding of children and families who may be experiencing domestic abuse. You can also tell them if you're concerned for someone else's safety.
  • Rochdale Victim Support - they aim to be the first point of contact for victims and survivors of domestic abuse. They'll help you to find the right support, no matter what you need - from 1 to 1 support, to help attending court.

  • Rape Crisis - talk to us, find a Rape Crisis centre, or get self-help tools and resources.

There's a wide range of support in the borough of Rochdale and Greater Manchester for victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

  • Greater Manchester Domestic Abuse Helpline - telephone helpline for people who have experienced domestic abuse and violence. They also offer support and advice for friends, family and professionals.
  • End the Fear - Greater Manchester domestic abuse helpline for advice and support if you or someone you know is affected by domestic abuse.

Male victims and survivors of domestic abuse

  • Mankind Initiative - helpline for male victims of domestic abuse and domestic violence across the UK as well as their friends, family, neighbours, work colleagues and employers.
  • Men's Advice Line - telephone, email and webchat support for male victims of domestic abuse.
  • Rochdale Victim Support - they aim to be the first point of contact for victims and survivors of domestic abuse. They'll help you to find the right support, no matter what you need - from 1 to 1 support, to help attending court

  • Survivors UK - help and support for boys, men and non-binary people aged 13+.

Women victims and survivors of domestic abuse

  • National Domestic Abuse Helpline - 24-hour helpline for women and children affected by domestic abuse.
  • Rochdale Connections Trust (RCT) - supports the community with a variety of domestic violence programmes to raise awareness and promote healthy relationships.
  • Rochdale Victim Support - they aim to be the first point of contact for victims and survivors of domestic abuse. They'll help you to find the right support, no matter what you need - from 1 to 1 support, to help attending court.
  • Rochdale Women's Welfare Association - a dedicated ‘by and for’ women service that strives to empower women and children to reach their full potential. Provides specialist support to women from ethnic minorities experiencing domestic abuse, sexual violence, honour-based abuse and forced marriage. Phone 01706 860157 on Monday to Thursday between 9am-3pm.
  • Safenet - 24-hour helpline, live online chat, and emergency refuge accommodation.
    WHAG - supports women who are homeless and at risk of homelessness and men, women and children who are fleeing domestic violence.
  • Women's Aid - information, support and refuge for women and children in the UK.

Safe accommodation and refuge

  • Homelessness and prevention - we offer information and advice for people who might need further support with housing and homelessness.
  • Rail to Refuge - people fleeing domestic abuse may be able to get a free rail ticket to a refuge.
  • Safenet - 24-hour helpline, live online chat, and emergency refuge accommodation.

LGBTQ+ victims and survivors of domestic abuse

  • Galop - LGBTQ+ anti-abuse charity and helpline.
  • LGBT Foundation - provides practical help, advice and emotional support for LGBTQ+ people who have been, or currently are experiencing domestic abuse.

Child to parent violence

  • Break 4 Change - a programme for families where young people are abusive towards their parents or carers for example, hitting, name calling, making threats and damaging possessions in the home.

Honour-based violence
