Rochdale Borough Council were granted an injunction order preventing unauthorised encampments by the High Court on 11 June 2024.
The hearing took place on 21 May 2024 at the High Court in London. The court handed down the judgment on 7 June 2024. The Judge made a 5-year order against the named defendants and a one-year order against persons unknown.
The judge also reinstated the power of arrest against persons unknown and continued the power of arrest against the named defendants.
On 16 May 2025, the High Court granted an extension of the injunction against persons unknown for a further year, until 7 June 2026. This means that 334 sites across the borough of Rochdale are protected from unauthorised encampments.
