Toni is our workforce development manager, and helps others grow in their careers.

Every career journey is unique, can you share yours?

"My career to date has been very varied! I’ve worked as a waitress, a cleaner, a production planner, a customer service agent, and a HR assistant. Each role added to my experience and helped shape the path I’m on today."

"Joining Rochdale Council was a turning point. I started as a workforce development practitioner in human resources, then took on a 2-year secondment as a project manager in transformation."

"That gave me a whole new perspective on how change happens across the organisation. Now, I’m the workforce development manager, and I get to help others grow in their careers."

What’s a defining moment that shaped your growth at Rochdale?

"Definitely being asked to act up into the team leader role when I was still quite new."

"It was a big step, but it gave me the chance to stretch myself, gain experience at a higher level, and build the confidence I needed to move forward."

"That opportunity played a huge part in getting me to where I am now."

What’s the most inspiring thing about what you do?

"I’d say the most inspiring part of my role is helping managers and staff develop themselves, whether that’s learning a new skill or progressing in their careers."

"When people reach their full potential, they’re able to support residents in the best way possible way, and that’s what makes the work so rewarding."

What advice would you give someone just starting out who wants to succeed at Rochdale?

"Be curious. Learn as much as you can about the organisation’s purpose and vision, and think about how your role contributes to that."

"Always look out for opportunities to learn. That’s where the real growth happens."
