Report a dead animal on the highway
If you find a dead animal in a publicly accessible area please report it using the form below.
Before you start, please make sure you have the following information available:
- Location of the animal
- Type of site, for example, a public path
- Type of animal
Dead animals on private property
We don't remove dead animals from private residences.
If it's on private land it's the landowner's responsibility to deal with it.
You can dispose of small dead animals in your dark green general waste bin. GOV.UK provides information regarding the size of a dead animal you can bury.
What to do if you hit an animal with your car
If you hit an animal with your vehicle you must report this to the police by using the non-emergency number 101.
You don't need to report animals smaller than dogs.
