Cooling tower notification

Cooling tower notification

Cooling towers and evaporative condensers help to remove excess heat from sites like power stations or chemical plants.

You must tell us about any cooling towers or evaporative condensers you have in Rochdale borough, even if the enforcing authority for your premises is the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). This is because infectious diseases, such as Legionnaires' disease, can be found in many cooling or water supply systems. Telling us ensures we can take preventative measures to eliminate the risk of infection to employees or Rochdale borough residents.

How to apply

You're not required to apply. However, you'll be required to complete the notification form and send it to us using the details listed on the form.
