Heywood 1940s Day, road closures in Heywood from 20 June 2026

  • The closure on Hill Street will be in effect from 7am–6pm on Saturday, 20 June 2026.
  • The closures on all other streets listed in this notice will be in effect from 12noon–3pm on Saturday, 20 June 2026.
  • The prohibition of waiting at any time will be in effect from 6am–6pm on Sunday, 21 June 2026.
Reason
To hold the Heywood 1940s Day and Parade.
Restriction and location

The following roads will be temporarily closed:

  • Tower Street, from the junction with School Street to the junction with St James Street.
  • St James Street, for its entire length.
  • Bridge Street, from the junction with St James Street to the junction with Dawson Street and Market Street.
  • Dawson Street, for its entire length.
  • Bamford Road, from the junction with Dawson Street to the junction with Market Place.
  • Market Place, for its entire length.
  • L/Cpl Stephen Shaw MC Way, for its entire length.
  • Hartley Street, for its entire length.
  • York Street, from the junction with Hartley Street to the junction with Market Place.
  • Market Street, from the junction with Market Place to the junction with Bridge Street.
  • Taylor Street, from the junction with Market Place to the junction with Earl Street.
  • Hill Street, from the junction with Fox Street to the junction with Market Street.
Alternative route

The alternative routes for the Hill Street closure are as follows:

  • Clockwise: Fox Street, Brunswick Street, Tower Street, St James Street, Bridge Street, Dawson Street, Bamford Road and Market Street.
  • Anti-clockwise: Fox Street, Hind Hill Street, Market Place and Market Street.

It is not necessary for an alternative route to be in place for the parade due to the nature and duration of the event.
