About carbon footprints
A carbon footprint is a measure of the impact our activities have on the environment. It calculates the greenhouse gases we are expected to produce in all our activities and measures them in units of carbon dioxide (CO2). Individuals, businesses and communities can calculate their carbon footprint.
The average carbon footprint for each person in the UK is about 10 tonnes of CO2 every year.
We can't solve climate change on our own, but together we can make a huge difference. There are many ways to reduce your carbon footprint and live more sustainably.
