We’ve been recording births, marriages, and deaths in the borough since 1837. Over the years, the areas we cover have changed slightly, so where you apply depends on the date and location of the event.
You can request certificates from the Rochdale Register Office for the following areas:
- Rochdale, Heywood, Milnrow, and Littleborough: all certificates from 1837 to the present day.
- Middleton: certificates from 1837–1933 and 1974 to the present day. For events between 1933–1974, please contact Oldham Council.
- Whitworth: certificates from 1837–1974. For events after 1974, please contact Rossendale Council.
