Home education

Help with home education

We have an Elective Home Education (EHE) team who can help you make decisions about home educating your child.

When a child is removed from school to be electively home educated our team offer an initial visit to discuss any support needs. This can take place at your home, or at a local library or family hub.

We offer teacher visits once you have settled in to home education. We have a mainstream teacher and a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) teacher available. We also have welfare and family support staff for families who would like some additional support.

If you do not wish to meet with our team, we'll ask you to provide some information in writing about your child's education.

You can get help from:

  • Teacher Consultants
  • Co-ordinator and Fair Access Support Officers
  • Welfare Officers

Teacher Consultants

Teacher Consultants are trained and experienced teachers who can provide you with support and guidance in all matters relating to home education.

Co-ordinators and Fair Access Support Officers

The officers can talk you through the process and support you along the way.

Welfare Officers

We are duty-bound to make arrangements for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. You can contact them for any concerns or for advice about the safety of your child.

We produce monthly newsletters with useful information and hold drop in sessions throughout the year as well as larger information sessions.
