School Streets help create safer, healthier, and more pleasant areas around schools by temporarily restricting vehicle access during drop-off and pick-up times.
During these times in the morning and afternoon, roads outside schools become pedestrian and cycle zones, allowing access only to people walking, cycling, or using a scooter.
Benefits of School Streets

Vehicle restrictions
Non-essential vehicles are not permitted during School Street hours. However, exemptions may be granted for:
- Residents
- Blue Badge holders
- Healthcare workers
- Emergency services
How you can support School Streets
To support School Streets we encourage parents and carers to:
- Walk, cycle, or scoot with your children
- Park a short distance away from school and complete the rest of the journey on foot

You will need to have the backing of your school for a School Street to be implemented.
