Residents across the borough will have the chance to pay their respects to those who have made sacrifices in defence of the country at Remembrance Day services.

Commemorations will be held on Sunday, 8 November 2026, with services and parades taking place across townships.

Representatives from the Navy, Army and Royal Air Force will join veterans and civic dignitaries for parades in Rochdale, Castleton, Heywood, Littleborough, Middleton, Milnrow, Norden, and Wardle.

Members of the public are invited to attend to show their gratitude to servicemen and women past and present.

Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Faisal Rana, said:

“Across the community we will come together on Sunday, 8 November 2026 to pay tribute to our armed forces and honour the service and sacrifice of thousands of men and women. In our remembrance we honour the fallen, people of all faiths and no faith, from Heywood, Middleton, Pennines and Rochdale.

“The council supports all members of our armed forces community, young and old. We will always be there for them and their families. We are united in our remembrance, as all ages come together at local war memorials to reflect and remember, to pause and pray. Lest we forget.”

The Royal British Legion is holding its annual poppy appeal until Sunday 8 November 2026, raising money to support British servicemen and women and their families. Poppies can be bought on the Royal British Legion website, at Number One Riverside, Rochdale, and selected places across the borough.
