Donating to the mayor’s charities is now just a click away thanks to an online shopping app – and it won’t cost you an extra penny.
Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Faisal Rana, has teamed up with Easy Fundraising to turns people’s everyday purchases into free donations for his chosen charities.
From sorting the weekly food shop, booking a trip abroad or buying the latest fashion items, using the app ensures a percentage of each purchase goes to the Mayor’s Charity Appeal.
Over 8,000 brands have signed up, including major supermarkets, high street favourites, travel agents and tech companies.
Councillor Rana is now encouraging residents in Heywood, Middleton, Pennines and Rochdale to check out the app and help raise money for local good causes. He said:
“This is a fantastic scheme that makes a bit of retail therapy even more enjoyable, so please make your routine shopping count, download the app and give the Mayor’s Charity Appeal a welcome boost. Together we can make a huge difference – for free.
“I am already using the app, it took a couple of minutes to sign up and it’s really easy to use; there’s even a running total of how much has been donated. People can shop online as normal, it costs exactly the same, with the brands donating a small percentage of each purchase to our wonderful charities.
“Throughout my mayoral year the mayoress and I hope we can rely on people’s support to raise important funds for these charities. Working together, we can all play our part in supporting what they do to improve people’s lives.”
The mayor’s charities for 2026/27 are Springhill Hospice, The Christie, SANDS, Rochdale Veterans’ Breakfast Club and the Rochdale Women’s Welfare Association.
