A colourful sensory experience like no other is coming to Rochdale Town Hall this weekend and there’s still chance to snap up tickets.
Colourscape is a giant inflatable structure of colour and sound, which people can walk around and immerse themselves in, and it will be in Rochdale Town Hall Square on Saturday, 12 July 2025 and Sunday, 13 July 2025.
The installation has travelled around the world, with visitors from London, China, Amsterdam and Iceland describing the experience as like ‘walking through a sleeping giant’ and ‘being wrapped in a rainbow’.
Running alongside Colourscape will be plenty of family fun inside the town hall, with Colourscape-themed art workshops taking place from 11am–4pm in the Bright Hall on the Saturday and Sunday. The art workshops are free and there is no need to book.
In addition, a special colour and light concert, featuring dance and motion detecting light, will be performed by pupils from Redwood School on Saturday, 12 July 2025 at 11am in the town hall.
In addition, the town hall’s sensory room will be open from 11am–4pm on both days to support visitors with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Councillor Sue Smith, cabinet member for communities and cooperation at Rochdale Borough Council, said:
“Colourscape was a sell out when it came to the borough last year and we’re delighted to bring this unique experience back.
“Alongside all the free children’s activities taking place inside the town hall, Colourscape promises to be a fantastic weekend of fun for all the family.”
Colourscape takes place on Saturday, 12–Sunday, 13 July 2025, from 11am–4pm on Rochdale Town Hall Square, with music playing between 11.30am–3.30pm.
