Families across Rochdale now have even more parenting-related support and advice available at their fingertips, thanks to the council’s involvement in a new mobile application.
Partnering with Essential Parent, Rochdale Borough Council’s newly created family hub app provides parents and carers with a host of useful information to help them on their journey from pregnancy through to their child’s late teens.
The app also features trusted guidance on topics including special educational needs and disabilities, family wellbeing and women’s health.
Councillor Rachel Massey, portfolio holder for children’s services and education, said:
“As parents, we all have a tendency to look for advice in different ways — whether that’s online, in a trusted book, or through a conversation with a professional. From potty training tips and speech and language development techniques to advice on managing behaviour and supporting our children’s mental health, we’re all doing our best to find what works for our families.
“Having all of this trusted information and guidance in one easily accessible place, through our new family hub app, is incredibly helpful — especially when support is needed outside of usual hours or in the moment.
“This app isn’t here to replace the vital work of professionals like school nurses or health visitors, who remain absolutely essential to our community. It’s designed to complement and enhance the face-to-face support offered by our popular family hubs, giving families another way to feel informed, supported and connected.
“We’re committed to helping every child in our borough have the best start in life — and this app is just one more tool to support that. I encourage families to download it now if they wish, as it’s a fantastic resource to have at your fingertips on your parenting journey.”
The app has been developed in partnership with councils across Greater Manchester and Essential Parent, and it can be found in app stores as the ‘GM Family Hub’.
