About Freedom of Information requests
The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act allows anybody to ask a public authority for information that is already held in recorded form. It sets out exemptions from that right and places a number of obligations on us.
If you request information about the environment, it will be handled under the Environmental Regulations (EIRs). This includes things like energy, noise and waste.
Information Commissioner's Office
The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is an independent body that enforces the Freedom of Information Act, the Data Protection Act and the Environmental Information Regulations. You can read more about how your data matters on the ICO's website
Open data is about increased transparency and about sharing the information we hold with the wider community to build useful applications.
We regularly publish financial and other data showing how the council operates including Business Rates, council spending and invitations to tender.
