Using government funding, we plan to install over 300 new EV chargers across our borough at public venues such as leisure centres and parks, along main transport routes and residential streets where off‑street parking isn’t available.
These new chargers will be easy to use and will help make owning an electric vehicle more accessible.
Have your say on electric vehicle chargers
Electric vehicle ownership is growing rapidly. In 2025, more than half of all new cars sold were electric or hybrid, and petrol and diesel vehicles will begin to be phased out by 2030. By 2035, every new car and van sold must be fully electric.
We want our borough to be ready for the future. By expanding our network of EV chargers, we can make cleaner, greener travel a realistic option for more people.
To build a network that works for everyone, we need your help. We’ll be running public consultations to gather your views on what types of chargers we install and where they should go.
Our electric vehicle infrastructure policy
Our policy sets out how we plan, install, and maintain electric vehicle chargers to support a cleaner, more accessible transport network across our borough.
