Local Government Pension Scheme: Employer Discretions

These are the council’s policy decisions in relation to the Local Government Pension Scheme regulations and the following employer discretions:

• Contributing to a Shared Cost Additional Pension Contributions (SCAPC)
• Flexible retirement
• Waiving actuarial reductions on flexible retirement
• Waiving actuarial reductions where benefits are drawn voluntarily before normal pension age (NPA)
• Switching on the 85 rule
• Waiving actuarial reductions where the employer has switched on the 85 rule
• Giving extra pension
• Awarding additional membership
• Early payment of pension
• Waiving actuarial reductions where benefits are drawn early under B30 and B30A
• Basis of redundancy payments
• Awarding lump sum compensation
