This is the Council’s Land and Buildings Disposal Policy and Protocols. The ownership and management of land and building assets represents a significant cost to the Council each year. The Council is not in the business of owning property for property’s sake. It needs to be clear about its reasons for owning every asset and should be clear what each contributes to the objectives of the organisation.
Where it is found that an asset no longer meets the requirements of a service or contributes to corporate objectives it may be considered for disposal. In addition, the Council may consider a request from a resident or business to purchase an area of land.
