Independent Persons
The Localism Act 2011 made it a requirement for us to appoint at least one Independent Person to assist in dealing with complaints that the Code of Conduct may have been breached.
If we decide to investigate an allegation then we must seek and take into account the views of the Independent Person before we make any decisions.
In addition, any councillor who has been complained about may seek the views of the Independent Person. We agreed to appoint 3 Independent Persons at the meeting held on 25 July 2012.
