2023-2024 Council Tax bands

Current Council Tax bands

We set the Council Tax rates and the Valuation Office Agency makes sure your home is in the correct band so you pay the right amount of Council Tax.

The Valuation Office Agency decides your correct band based on the value of your property at 1 April 1991, not what a property is worth today.

The 8 Council Tax bands and the charge for each band are displayed below.

Discount on all Council Tax bills

We’re increasing Council Tax for 2023-2024 by 4.99 per cent, but we're also applying a 2 per cent discount to all bills. This will be funded by the use of council reserves.

We’ll apply the full discount to the first bills in March 2023. This means you don’t have to claim the discount.

Councillors decided to apply a discount to help residents cope with the cost of living crisis. It will also protect future funding as the government’s next local government settlement will be based on an assumption that councils have increased Council Tax by the full amount of 4.99 per cent.

Council Tax Support will also be increased by up to £25 for 2023-2024. Calculate and claim Council Tax Support
