Closures of nurseries, schools and colleges
The government has decided all nurseries, schools and colleges will close after Friday, 20 March 2020. Schools will only remain open for vulnerable children and children of critical workers. Schools will have contacted parents and carers about this.
There is currently no return date for schools. We continue to take guidance from the government and will update this page once they tell us this information.
It's important to remember schools aren't seen as a high-risk place for coronavirus and this is not the reason they are closing. School staff are working hard to support children, promote handwashing and maintain a level of normality to the day for children and young people.
All our schools are in direct contact with parents and carers, please make sure your school has your most up to date contact details.
Exams in schools and colleges
The government has cancelled the exams which were due to take place in May and June 2020. This includes SATs, GCSEs, AS levels and A levels.
The government will give more information about this when they have it.
Free school meals during the closure
If your child normally gets free school meals, they can continue to receive them.
Your school should contact you about how this will happen.
Mental health and wellbeing during the school closures
If your child is worried about the current situation, there is mental health and wellbeing advice available.
