Good Guy Scheme

About the Good Guy Scheme

The Good Guy Scheme has been operating in Rochdale since 2004. We run it in the borough every year.

It encourages retailers to be more responsible in the lead up to Bonfire Night and publicises the responsible retailers you can buy fireworks from.

We work in partnership with Greater Manchester Police and the Fire Service and participating traders following a code of conduct that prevents firework nuisance.

Supported by the Safe4Autumn campaign

The Good Guy Scheme is supported by the Safe4Autumn Treacle campaign - a Greater Manchester initiative that works directly with local people to identify problems associated with this time of year.

Partnership operations include high visibility policing, issuing fixed penalty notices, confiscation of alcohol, test purchasing, visits to firework retailers and education through school and community visits.
