A section of the M62, and the rail line between Rochdale and Manchester, will be closed as a result of Network Rail rebuilding a railway bridge that crosses the M62 in Castleton near Rochdale.
Details of M62 closures and overnight closures during September 2024
- From 9pm, Friday, 6 September 2024–6am, Monday, 9 September 2024, the M62 will be closed.
- From 9pm, Friday, 20 September 2024–6am, Monday, 23 September 2024.
- The M62 motorway will be closed from junction 18 (Simister Island) to junction 20 (Rochdale) eastbound, and junction 20 to junction 19 (Heywood) westbound.
- No trains will run between Rochdale and Manchester as part of the Manchester Victoria to Leeds route.
- From Monday, 9 September 2024 until Monday, 20 September 2024, there will be overnight closures (9pm to 6am) on the M62 in both directions between junction 19 (Heywood) and junction 20 (Rochdale). This is to support the work to the base of the bridge. A clearly signed diversion will be in place.
Rail line closures
- Friday, 6 September 2024–Wednesday, 25 September 2024.
- Rail replacement buses will be operating for passengers during these dates.
