Modification orders register

Authorities now need to record all applications which have been made and not determined by the surveying authority under Schedule 14 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 before the "relevant date" of 31 December 2005, regardless of when the application was received.

Below is a brief outline of the definitive map modification applications received and the status of these orders. The information may also be viewed at our council offices at Green Lane, Heywood after making arrangements with the Rights of Way Officer.

Definitive map and statement

The definitive map is a record of all the registered public rights of way in the borough. The map is accompanied by a definitive statement describing each path.

You can be view the map at our offices at Green Lane, Heywood after making arrangements with the Rights of Way Officer. The definitive map and statement are conclusive proof that the rights which they record exist.

However, there may be right of way which has not been recorded. You can register and make an application for a right of way to be included on the definitive map and statement. Contact the Rights of Way Officer for details of how to do this.
