Smithy Bridge Primary School
Smithy Bridge have achieved Healthy School Status, Eco Award and
are also an Extended School.
Extended Services provided by or signposted to by the school
are:
- School opening hours – 8am – 6pm term time
- Breakfast Club 8am – 9am
- After School Club until 5.30pm
- Before School activities include judo and aerobics delivered by
staff
- Lunchtime activities for Key Stage 1 include choir, band,
growing club and cross stitch and for Key Stage 2 recorders, German
and newspaper club
- Youth Club at school on Friday night open to all children in
the community run by Site Manager with support of Teaching
Assistants – 7-8pm for years 3/4 and 8-9pm for years 5/6
- After school activities include netball, rounders and athletics
together with Drama classes which are delivered by Upstage
- School has good links with the School Sports Partnership and
coaches come into school to deliver 6 week blocks of gymnastics to
Key Stage 1 pupils and also cheerleading to Key Stage 1 &
2.
- The school has holiday provision delivered by Sport for Real
and targets pupils from Smithy Bridge. There will be one week of
sports activity during the summer and one week of creative activity
delivered by a Teaching Assistant, the school also signposts to
activities at Soccer Village
- The school provides support to parents by delivering drug
awareness and healthy pack lunch sessions
- Parents are invited into school for a taster day when their
child first joins to school
- Bury College use school facilities for delivering NVQ
courses
- The school provides support to pupils and has good links with
the Educational Welfare, School Nurse and Special Educational Needs
