Full planning permission
You should complete a full planning application form for things
like carrying out of works or operations or the erection of
buildings. This applies to:
- Commercial and industrial developments
- Erection of new dwellings
- Sub-division of dwellings into flats
- Applications for change of use of land or premises
The Planning Portal also offers a wide range of services and
guidance on the planning system, including guidance for small
business to the procedures of the planning system and how to apply
for planning permission.
Submitting a full application
If you are unsure of how to complete an application for planning
permission you should have pre-application discussions to
make sure you provide all the information needed (refer checklist)
to process your application from the start. Otherwise your
application will be delayed. Please include copies of any
pre-application correspondence or notes.

Portal.
Submit by post or in person
Please note: due to a review of
procedures, we will now accept planning applications where
only one copy of the application form, plans and other
necessary supporting information are provided.
Your completed application form should be accompanied by
the checklist below. Any application which does not
provide all the required details may not be validated.

For any application involving more than 100
pages of written documentation you are now legally required from 6
April 2010 to include a summary report of the
whole scheme of a maximum of 20 pages.
For all Major developments, a full copy of the application on CD
would be helpful. This will allow us to provide electronic copies
of the application to all relevant consultees at the earliest
opportunity and reduce the possibility of delays in the application
process.
IMPORTANT: Please ensure you check
whether building regulations is also required for your proposed
development.
