Needle removal
We are responsible for the collection and safe disposal of
hypodermic needles (sharps) and other drugs paraphernalia that has
been discarded on local authority land or other areas that are
defined as open to the public.
In order to protect the public we aim to react to any
reports of sharps the same day.
If you are a private landowner or proprietor with sharps
discarded on your land you can contact us and we will arrange for
safe removal at a nominal charge.
Any sightings of sharps should be reported immediately to the
helpline. For your own safety please do not attempt to remove
any sharps you see.
Please note that it is not acceptable and extremely
dangerous to dispose of needles and hypodermics in any street
litter bin or through the normal household waste
receptacles.
For further related advice or information please contact the
Community Drugs Team.
