New school takes shape
28 June 2011
Construction is well underway at Cardinal Langley RC High School
with the completion of two critical phases of the Building Schools
for the Future scheme.
The maths and humanities faculties have moved into their newly
refurbished areas complete with information communications
technology (ICT) to support the school's educational vision of each
faculty having their own ICT base.
Throughout the build, students and staff have been able to watch
progress from the existing school. The site team have even
installed vision panels so they can literally see the new buildings
go up before their eyes!
Throughout the project inspiredspaces and Carillion have worked
closely with staff and students to engage them in the build process
and keep them fully informed. This has included using the new build
within the school curriculum to enhance learning opportunities.
One year 10 Princes Trust group have been studying a module on
health and safety which has included an induction about the health
and safety aspects on a building site, practical workshops
delivered by Carillion and a full tour of the new school site.
Councillor Donna Martin, Cabinet Member for Children, Schools
and Families, said:
“The new buildings at Cardinal Langley are really taking shape
and I’m pleased that children are benefiting from practical
learning experiences along the way. Once completed the new 21st
century school will transform the learning experience for
pupils.”
