Winter training programme for businesses gets underway
24 January 2012
The council’s winter training and support
programme for businesses will be taking place throughout February
and March.
Places are free to borough businesses and the
topics covered range from sales, marketing and finance to the
business opportunities offered by the on and off-shore wind
sector.
Amongst the highlights of the programme is the
Business Breakfast on Thursday 2 February at Heywood Sports Village
where business people will get the chance to ask Leader Councillor
Colin Lambert any questions they may have and to network with other
businesses.
Councillor Peter Williams, Cabinet Member for
Corporate Services and Economic Development, said: “We’re
responding to the challenges businesses are facing in these tough
times by providing training on business basics, such as finance and
customer care, but also looking to the future and the opportunities
new technologies and industries might offer to local firms.”
The courses are free to established Rochdale
borough businesses employing fewer than 250 staff and are very
popular so early booking is recommended.

The council has also recently announced the
Rochdale Borough High Street Foundation which will focus on
creating new, sustainable high streets for Rochdale. A high profile
launch event will take place on 15 February attended by Reggae
Reggae sauce star Levi Roots, who first came to prominence on BBC
TV’s Dragons’ Den, who will give the keynote speech.
