Keeping children safe online
3 February 2012
Safer Internet Day (SID) takes place on
Tuesday 7 February and to celebrate the Children’s Exploitation and
Online Protection Centre (CEOP) are releasing the ‘The Parents’ and
Carers’ Guide to the Internet’, an entertaining, light-hearted look
at what it takes to be an online parent.
With interviews from experts including Dr
Tanya Byron and Dr Linda Papadopoulos, industry players like
Facebook and Moshi Monsters, and, most importantly, children
themselves, this TV-style show aims to answer all of the tricky
questions parents may be afraid to ask.
Take part in this international day of action
to get parents involved in their children’s online lives!
The guide will be available from 7am on 7
February on thinkuknow.co.uk/parents
and youtube.com/ceop
To round off the day, the CEOP team will be
taking questions from parents between 6pm – 9pm via social media
platforms. Join the conversation at #parentsguide

Donna Martin, Cabinet Member for Children,
Schools and Families, said: “The internet has brought huge benefits
to young people and their families but it is important that it is
always used in a responsible manner.
“The online guide is a great way for parents
to find out lots of useful information and so I hope as many people
as possible will take advantage of this opportunity.”
