Building your family tree is easy and free
10 February 2012
Ever thought about researching your family tree? Smallbridge
Library is encouraging people to make it their first port of call
this month, when they host a free Genealogy Computer session.
On Monday 27 February the library on Stevenson Square in
Rochdale is hosting a two-hour masterclass from 10 am showing how
it’s done, using computer software that is available free to
library users.
Councillor Peter Williams, Cabinet Member for Corporate
Management and Development, said libraries can assist with family
history research:
“There is a wealth of information at your library for anyone
researching their family tree, including books, photographs, maps,
plans, newspapers, directories, electoral registers, records and
census returns. The computer software available to use is
excellent too.”
Places are free, although booking is
essential. Phone 01706 659978 or just call in to Smallbridge
Library. Refreshments will be served.
