The annual High School Singing Showcase took place on Tuesday, 12 November 2019 with a variety of choirs and soloists performing.
The singing showcase was set up 3 years ago by Rochdale Borough Council’s music service to get more high school pupils involved in demonstrating their talents.
The event saw soloists, duos and choirs with outstanding singing and musical talent from Kingsway, Siddal Moor, Cardinal Langley, Whitworth and Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar secondary schools as well as Rochdale Sixth Form College all taking part.
Performers dazzled the audience with 33 performances including hits from Coldplay, Lewis Capaldi, Michael Bublé, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande as well as songs from Les Misérables and Beauty and the Beast.
"The showcase is a great chance for us to celebrate the musical talent of our young people in high schools and colleges"
Joanne Astley, organiser of the showcase from the council’s music service, was grateful to all schools that took part and said: “The showcase is a great chance for us to celebrate the musical talent of our young people in high schools and colleges. It provides valuable performance experience to students preparing to take their GCSE music exams or university applications.”
