One week left to help give local children living in poverty a Christmas toy

07 December 2017

Staff with donated toys. There's only a week to donate to this year's Christmas Toy Appeal and help give local children living in poverty a great Christmas Day.

The appeal, which helps make sure local children have presents to open on Monday, December 25 2017, is organised by our staff-run 'Giving Back' charity.

We ask residents and staff to buy an extra present at Christmas – a new, unwrapped gift suitable for a child between 0-16-years-old and leave it at a local library by Wednesday, 13 December 2017.

'Businesses have been extremely generous and I would like to thank The Rochdale Herald, Rochdale Tesco and the Odeon at Sandbrook Park for their generous support'

Helen Leach, from Giving Back, said gifts have started to come in:

"Once again I am so pleased to see that residents and staff have really got behind it but some children do still go without, so we always need more gifts.  Businesses have been extremely generous and I would like to thank The Rochdale Herald, Rochdale Tesco and the Odeon at Sandbrook Park for their generous support. This support is all really appreciated and we will ensure all the gifts go to very worthwhile homes and those that receive them get a lot of joy."

If you can help, it's not too late - toys can be dropped off at any of the borough's 17 libraries or Rochdale Tesco.

Thank you, and have a happy Christmas.
