Books and reading

Love reading....love books

If you loved your last book but are wondering what you are going to read next, let your local library help you decide. Whether you are looking for the latest bestseller, the book of the film or an enthralling classic we have thousands of titles to keep you inspired and entertained. Just ask one of our staff and let them know what you like or what you're looking for. They'll be pleased to help find you something suitable and will even suggest books and authors that you've never heard of if you want to try something new for a change.

We have hardbacks, paperbacks, books in large print, talking books on tape or CD and now even e-books that you can read on your computer !

Have you ever wished that you had someone to share your views with when you’ve just finished reading an amazing story? Then why not join one of the many reading groups that meet in libraries across the borough? Throughout the year we have a varied and exciting programme of reading and writing events. You could have the chance to talk to your favourite author at our regular "Meet the Author" sessions or express your own creativity at one of our Writing and Poetry Workshops.

Reading groups

If you love books and wish to share your experiences with other people why not come along to one of our many reading groups that are held in our libraries throughout the Rochdale borough.

You don't have to have "bad eyesight" to finding reading a chore: there are times when you want to read a book but your eyes really don't want to make much of an effort (especially if you have spent all day staring at a computer screen).
