Toy libraries
There are 17 toy libraries available for parents and carers in
the borough:
- One in Littleborough Library, administered by the Library
Service
- 16 in children's centres across the borough
Toys and other play resources are also available for hire
to childcare professionals.
Littleborough Library
You do not have to be registered as a borrower at Littleborough
Library to borrow the toys. If you have a barcoded library card
from any library in the borough you can borrow the toys.
Toys can only be issued and returned at Littleborough
Library.
The toys in the collection can be found on the Library Catalogue
but are not available for reservation.
Library catalogue
This project has been funded by Littleborough Families
Association. The association has also created a colour browsing
catalogue of the collection which is available in the library.
Toy library for childcare professionals
PEARLS (Play, Education, Arts, Reusables and Lending Service) is
a membership organisation which offers toys as
a resource for those involved in the provision of childcare
and education from childminders and private nurseries through to
schools and playgroups.
There is a wide range of equipment available to hire such as
table top toys and larger outdoor play equipment along with some
educational and specialized resources. They have a large stock of
sensory equipment including bubble tubes and fibre optic carpets
plus arts and crafts materials.
Our opening hours are:
Monday: 10am - 5pm
Tuesday 10am - 5pm
Wednesday 10am - 7pm
Thursday 10am - 5pm
Friday: CLOSED

Toy library for parents and carers
There are 16 toy libraries in Children’s
Centres across the borough where carers and families can become
members and, for a small cost, borrow toys and equipment on a
regular basis.
Each toy library has a variety of equipment
including: puzzles, jigsaws, construction, educational toys, games
and many more enabling children to explore different aspects of
play and fun.
You can become a member of the toy library at
any of our Children's Centres throughout the borough.
