The 2010 Tour of Britain
On Saturday 11
September the world’s best cyclists will gather in Rochdale for the
start of the premier event in the UK cycling calendar – the Tour of
Britain.
The gruelling eight-day race will get underway outside the
spectacular Rochdale Town Hall at 10.30am with a festival of
activities taking place throughout the morning to celebrate the
fantastic event coming to the borough.

Saturday 11 September will see 96 of the world’s best cyclists,
including Britain’s Team Sky, gather in Rochdale town centre for
the start of the Tour of Britain.

Rochdale children are being invited to design a flag for the
Tour of Britain bike race, and have it seen by millions across the
world.

Race route revealed!
The 11 September race will start in Rochdale town centre at
10.30am with the Grade 1 listed Town Hall providing an impressive
backdrop for the start of the eight-day challenge.

Cycling stars launch Tour in Rochdale
Top cyclists Steven Burke and Richard Handley joined tour
organisers, representatives from Rochdale Borough Council,
Link4Life, the North West Regional Development Agency and local
cycling enthusiasts at the town hall before taking part in a mini
trial ride of the first part of the course. Steven won a Bronze
Medal at the 2008 Olympics and Richard is one of the UK’s most
promising young riders. Both will be taking part in the Tour of
Britain.
