The Council is responsible for licensing theatres, cinemas and other places used for stage music, dancing, plays, indoor sports or film shows for public entertainment, under the Licensing Act 2003.

The main purpose of licensing entertainments is to enable us to ensure that the four licensing objectives are promoted by the way that the entertainment is managed.  The licensing objectives are:
