Young watchdogs chase home North West’s best
1 May 2008
Pupils from Cardinal Langley RC High School, Middleton proved
they know a good deal from a rip-off after being edged out of the
finals of a national Young Consumers Competition.
The team of four Year 10s represented the borough at the
regional final of the competition held at the Trafford Centre on 13
March. Although they were just pipped by Salford Grammar School for
a place in the national finals they won a £150 consolation
prize.
Ve Nutter, who works for ourTrading Standards Service and helped
the team prepare for the regional final, said:
"The team worked really hard to get to grips with a whole range
of consumer issues as the competition covered consumer rights, food
and health, safety and environment, credit and travel. In the
final, they put up a great performance and were a credit to their
school and the borough but were just edged out on the night."
The competition is organised by the Trading Standards Institute
with the national final held in Bournemouth in June at the Annual
Trading Standards Institute Conference.
