Rochdale’s football heroes honoured at town hall celebration
22 May 2008
Rochdale's football squad will attend a civic
reception at the town hall on Wednesday evening (28 May 2008)
following their showdown with Stockport County at Wembley.
The
reception, staged by Rochdale Borough Council is being held to
commemorate their centenary year - and their first match at
Wembley.
Council leader Alan Taylor said it has been a remarkable
season:
"It's been a superb year for Rochdale Football Club and it's
only right that the council recognises their achievement. It means
a lot to the supporters to get to Wembley for the first time in the
club's history and I think that should be marked with a special
celebration like this.
Players, officials and guests from Rochdale
Football Club will attend the reception at the Great Hall at
6pm. At approximately 6.15pm the team is due to appear on the
balcony alongside the Mayor to toast their success.
