Get ready to make your Township bloom

16 May 2007
It’s time for green-fingered gardeners to get ready to do battle
for awards in the 2007 Rochdale Townships in Bloom competition.
This year’s competition will be officially started at Rochdale
Town Hall at noon on Thursday 24 May. It will once again provide a
local focus to the regionally-organised North West in Bloom
awards.
The Rochdale Townships in Bloom competition is all about local
people and local projects. It is designed to encourage improvement
of the local environment for the benefit of all, with brighter
gardens and backyards as well as community projects that help to
support learning and enjoyment.
The success of the competition has been greatly helped by the
committed support of the competition’s sponsors: The All in One
Garden Centre, Casey Group and the Observer Group of Newspapers, as
main sponsor, helping to make the Townships of Heywood, Pennines,
Middleton and Rochdale better places in which to live and work.
Anyone can enter – whether you are a single
householder proud of your garden, back yard or hanging basket, a
hotel or business with well kept grounds, or a member of a
community group involved in local environmental projects, there is
a category for you!
Rochdale Townships in Bloom is free to enter and Certificates of
Merit will be awarded to prize-winners in each category. There’s a
new category this year for the best garden at a Council property,
sponsored by Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH), which manages the
Council’s 14,500 Council houses.
All you need to do to enter is fill in the form and send it in.
You should receive confirmation of your entry by 1 July and
preliminary judging will take place during the first two weeks of
July. Final judging is likely to be the third week of July.
